Defy Media Signs with WME to Develop TV and Film Projects, Inks RatPac Deal

Variety reports "WME has signed digital-media studio and programmer Defy Media — whose biggest brands include the Smosh comedy duo on YouTube — and Defy has also entered into a partnership with Brett Ratner and James Packer’s WME-repped RatPac Entertainment to develop several projects. The agency said it will work with Defy to package its development slate of original projects for TV and film, as well as other platforms. Investors in Defy, formed by the 2013 merger of Alloy Digital and Break Media, include Lionsgate, ABS Capital, ZelnickMedia and Viacom." Read More

The Verge reports "Sling TV can now be streamed with Amazon's current-generation Fire HDX and HD tablets. The internet TV service is available as a free download from Amazon's Appstore, and new subscribers can start with a 14-day trial before committing to Sling's $20-per-month subscription. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," the admin wrote. Fortune reports "Facebook has snapped up at least five companies in the virtual reality/augmented reality space, including Oculus, maker of the Cadillac of VR goggles, for $2 billion last summer. Google’s Cardboard, a fold-out kit for turning any Android smartphone into a crude VR headset, is already on version 2.0.
