Vocus Acquires Twitter Branding Firm Engine 140

Lanham, Md. – Vocus, a developer of web-based marketing and PR software, said it has acquired San Francisco Engine 140, a developer of software designed to help businesses build their brands on Twitter.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the acquisition, Engine 140 co-founders You Mon Tsang and Dan Gartung — who also previously co-founded business intelligence software Biz360 — will join Vocus.

Tsang will become senior vice president of products, in the company’s Lanham office, with Gartung joining the company’s development team [...].

Vocus Launches Billboard Publicity Wire

Lanham, Md. – Vocus, a developer of public relations software and operator of the PRWeb service, said on Tuesday that it has teamed with music industry trade publication Billboard to launch a new press release service focused on entertainment and music promotion. Vocus said that the wire service uses various techniques to direct press release readers to artists' websites.


PR Software Developer Vocus Acquires PRWeb for $28 Million

Lanham, Md. – Vocus, a provider of on-demand software for public relations and corporate communications, announced on Monday that it has acquired online press release distribution service PRWeb for $28 million in cash and stock. Maryland-based Vocus said the purchase will allow its customers to simultaneously deliver press releases via PRWeb their own media lists managed with Vocus applications. Ferndale, Wash.-based PRWeb's press releases are indexed by Google News and Yahoo News, and are delivered through more than 20,000 RSS [...].
