Vevo has made its first foray into original scripted content with Tim Timebomb’s RockNRoll Theater. Created by Tim Armstrong, best known as the singer/guitarist for punk band Rancid, the 12-episode series is a collection of stories tied together by Armstrong as host (in the Rod Serling/Alfred Hitchcock mold). Each half-hour segment features roles often acted by other musicians along with dark, sexy song and dance numbers.

The debut episode, Dante, airs on Oct. 21 and appropriately for Halloween “brings the 14th Century epic poem Dante’s Inferno up to 21st Century speed with a new take on greed and corporate corruption,” according to Vevo’s blog. It stars: Davey Havok, AFI frontman; Lars Frederiksen, Rancid guitarist and vocalist; and Robert David Hall, known for his portrayal of coroner Dr. Albert Robbins in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Armstrong is a musician, songwriter and record producer who has worked with Pink and Gwen Stefani and who owns the indie label Hellcat Records. He is known in the punk world as a guest musician with Bad Religion, Good Charlotte and several other bands, in addition to his own projects and Rancid.

“Doing a show centered on musical theatre isn’t really a stretch for me,” Armstrong told the blog. “For 25 years I’ve been making music and collaborating with friends, been involved in hundreds of videos. It’s really just a direct extension of my world.”

Vevo is the most popular partner channel on YouTube, according to comScore YouTube Partner Reporting, with 60.6 million unique viewers who spent an average of 59.9 minutes each in August.
