Berlin – German copyright society GEMA has filed a case for
"principal proceedings" against Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube, seeking an
injunction against the company for allegedly distributing copyrighted material
without permissions, Billboard reported.

A German court ruled against GEMA’s
request for an interim injunction against YouTube in August, but indicated in
its ruling that GEMA had made valid points.

GEMA’s new filing against YouTube
in Germany is being joined by ASCAP and BMI, Billboard noted.

Licensing talks
between YouTube and GEMA broken down in May, when GEMA removed some 600 videos
from the site.
