Reuters: Twitter Launches Social Media Ad Service in the Middle East

Reuters reports that social media leader Twitter Inc. is launching an advertising service in the Middle East in an attempt to take advantage of the tripling of its regional user base sparked by the Arab Spring protests.  Reuters cited Twitter’s VP of International Operations Shailesh Rao as saying: “The two are interconnected – the rapid growth of our user base with the timing of why we want to help brands connect with that audience.”  Twitter is working with Egypt’s Connect Ads (owned by Cairo-listed Orascom Telecom Media and Technology) on the service which will launch in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Kuwait and UAE.  Read more
