Mobovivo, Allliance Films enabling brands to give away movies

Mobovivo today announced an agreement with Alliance Films that means the Canadian movie distribution company will use Mobovivo’s web and app video platform for delivering films to customers’ iPads, smartphones, connected TVs and computers.

The two companies are teaming up to bring brands, movies and devices together, according to Trevor Doerksen, Mobovivo founder and CEO.

Doerksen, speaking at the Future of Television Forum today in New York, said a campaign for Grolsch Beer was the first initiative to use the capabilities offered by the partnership, which labels product packaging with special codes that can be redeemed for free online movie rentals.  Consumers can choose from Traitor (Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce), The Men Who Stare at Goats (George Clooney, Kevin Spacey), Away We Go (John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph) and several other popular titles.

Campaigns by top cereal and shampoo brands are coming next.

The brands get “valuable digital real estate,” Doerksen said, while Alliance Films gets secure distribution to devices and consumers get free movies.

“Bringing technology to today’s top brands and content companies is exactly what the consumer is looking for on their iPads and iPhones,” said Doerksen. “These devices give the media industry a secure, networked, customized, and adaptable platform for amazing growth.”
