Alexandria, Va. - Wupima, a distributor of mobile content in Chinese, said that it has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire Hook Mobile, a creator of viral tradable media content.

Under the deal, existing investors of Hook Mobile -- including Amplifier Venture Partners -- have become investors in Wupima.

In addition, Wupima has raised an unspecified amount of institutional funding in a new round co-led by Amplifier and previous investor DG-Accel China Growth Fund.

Wupima was founded in 2006 by Terry Hsiao and Kirk Tsai, the co-founders of InphoMatch (now Sybase 365).

Wupima said that it will use the proceeds of the investment for business expansion and product development.
