Mountain View, Calif. - Google has acquired certain assets and technology of Zingku, a developer of mobile social networking services targeted at teens and young adults, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2005, Zingku's free service is currently in private beta; it offers users a personalized website which can be used to shuttle content back and forth between a mobile phone, and connect with friends via group messaging.

The service supports standard text and picture messages, and does not require software installation.

"We believe these assets can help build products and features that will benefit our users, advertisers and publishers," Google said in a statement.

Google's other recent forays into mobile include the launch of AdSense for Mobile, as well as its acquisitions of mobile social network Dodgeball, and GrandCentral Communications.
