Los Angeles - News Corp.'s Fox on Thursday announced plans to offer national Fox TV programming on the websites of the company's more than 200 local broadcast network affiliates, boosting traffic from local viewers seeking episodes of shows like "24," "Bones" and "Prison Break."

The deal between the Fox affiliate board of governors, Fox Broadcasting, Fox Interactive Media, 20th Century Fox and the local affiliates calls for the entities to share both transactional and ad revenues.

"This is the next logical step in our partnership as the affiliate body and network move forward into the digital age," said Joe Denk, vice president and general manager of KFXA-TV in Cedar Rapids, IA, and chairman of the FOX affiliate board.

The Fox on Demand service, which has been offering ad-supported streaming shows since October, will now also add the ability for visitors to purchase and download TV shows for playback on a PC or portable device on the day after their initial broadcast.

The downloads will be powered by Fox Interactive Media's Direct2Drive digital retail store.
