Report: Mobile Dominated Japanese Digital Music Market in 2006

New York - Mobile music downloads in Japan last year totaled 344.1 million -- up 33% --  compared with just 23 million PC-based music download sales, Billboard.biz reported, citing data from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).

The value of Japan's mobile music market -- which includes all ringtones and full-track downloads -- rose 49% in 2006, to $398.2 million.

Meanwhile, PC-based digital single and album sales totaled $41.3 million, also up a notable 172% from 2005.
