Waltham, Mass. - Venture capital firm Charles River Ventures (CRV) announced on Wednesday that it has launched a seed funding program "designed to help entrepreneurs prototype and launch new ideas quickly."

Called "CRV QuickStart," the program will make loans of up to $250,000 to very early stage businesses, allowing them to avoid equity dilution as they explore the potential for raising venture capital, CRV said. Founded in 1970, CRV focuses on investments in technology and media sectors.
