Buzz Watch: Circus Iron Mike Wants To Fight Girls

Authored by Jay Baage on October 18, 2006 - 7:36am.

Mike Tyson, the 40-year-old former heavy weight champ train wreck, is preparing for a comeback of sorts. But this time he says that he is open to include fights with women. What else can we expect from the man who threatened to eat Lennox Lewis' children and bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear?

The first match of "Mike Tyson's World Tour" will be happen Friday night, at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. Tyson will take on former sparing partner Corey "T-Rex" Sanders. Viewers have to drop $29.99 for the pay-per-view event. Those few who will tune in are most likely young men hoping for an ear-biting, chair tossing circus. But Iron Mike has, in what probably is the worst marketing move ever, said that: “I’m not going to smash anybody. I'm not going to talk about smashing anybody's brains. You're not going to see that guy no more."

Wha-wha. There he just lost the 3 viewers that might have been inclined to tune in.

In what is a somewhat better marketing move, Tyson said that he is ready to fight women (in the ring this time) and mentioned professional boxer Ann Wolfe, who is 21-1 with 15 knockouts.

"She's such a prominent, dominant woman in the boxing field," Tyson said. When asked if he was joking about fighting women, Tyson said, "I'm very serious."

As good of an idea fighting women might seem to Tyson, Russ Young, a promoter for Wolfe, said such a bout will never happen.

"That's the first we've heard of it," Young said. "No state would sanction that. She would be outweighed by 60 to 70 pounds. Ann would never entertain the idea."

Tyson might not the smartest man on earth, but how about those two young guys who got into an elevator with him last year and got beat up after making fun of him, saying sarcastically:

”Nice face tattoo man”.

In that case, I must say that those guys almost deserved to get ”smashed”.
