George W. Haywood has resigned as a member of XM's Board of Directors, effective October 3rd, it was announced today by Gary Parsons, Chairman of the Board, XM Satellite Radio. “On behalf of XM's Board of Directors, I'd like to thank George for his contributions to XM over the last few years," said Parsons. "It's been a true pleasure to work with someone as talented as George and we wish him well in his future endeavors." "It is with deep regret that, for personal reasons, I have decided to step down from XM's Board of Directors," said Haywood. "I take pride in the growth and accomplishments of the company and I continue to fully support the current direction of the company and the company's management." Youbet.com, Inc. has named Jeff Franklin, the company’s long-time Product Development and Player Services Leader, to the newly created position of President of Youbet Online Services, the company’s online pari-mutuel wagering unit. The announcement of Franklin’s promotion was made by Youbet CEO Charles F. Champion. In his new position, Franklin will have day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of Youbet’s online business including regional operations, track relations, product development, player development, marketing and administration. His appointment is effective immediately. Franklin was previously head of YouBet’s Product Development and Player Services teams. Crown Media Holdings, Inc., owner and operator of Hallmark Channel, today announced that Henry Schleiff, chairman of the Court Television Network, has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Crown Media. He will join Crown Media immediately and will work out of the Company’s New York offices. Schleiff served as chairman and CEO of Court TV from 1999 through 2006. Under his leadership Court TV became one of the most successful cable networks in the industry, growing from 30 million subscribers to 85 million subscribers and becoming a leader in prime time cable ratings. Earlier this year he successfully negotiated the sale of Court TV to Time Warner. Marvel Entertainment, Inc., a global character-based entertainment and licensing company, has hired industry veteran Simon Philips as its new President of Marvel International effective November 13, 2006. Mr. Philips will oversee Marvel’s international consumer products group and report directly to Marvel’s new Office of the Chief Executive. Mr. Philips brings to Marvel more than 15 years of licensing experience and has helped create some of the most recognizable global entertainment licensing sensations. At Marvel, he will look to maximize Marvel’s international presence through developing licensing campaigns for both Marvel’s major movie events and its core classic comic book characters. He joins Marvel from 4Kids Entertainment, where he served as the managing director of 4Kids Entertainment International. InfoSpace, Inc. announced today that Rufus W. Lumry, III has resigned as a director of InfoSpace, effective October 3, 2006. Mr. Lumry, who has served on the board since December 1998, is leaving for personal reasons. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we all express our deep appreciation for the dedicated service provided to the Company by Mr. Lumry,” said Jim Voelker, chairman and chief executive officer of InfoSpace Inc. “He has been a valuable member of the Board for many years and his support and counsel will be missed.” Activision, Inc. announced today the appointment of Brian Hodous as Chief Customer Officer, who is expected to join the company in early November 2006. In this newly-created position, Mr. Hodous will be responsible for leading Activision Publishing’s global sales operations in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, driving the company’s supply chain function and developing new business opportunities worldwide. Mr. Hodous will report to Mike Griffith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Activision Publishing, Inc. Prior to joining Activision, Mr. Hodous held various leadership positions over the past 10 years within Cadbury Schweppes, most recently serving as Group Director and Executive Vice President of Global Sales. National Geographic Ventures (NGV) President Tim Kelly today announced that Paul Levine has joined NGV as Vice President of Entertainment Strategy and Development. Levine, a former AOL digital media executive, is charged with extending National Geographic’s brand, properties and character franchises to new interactive entertainment platforms, including gaming, mobile devices and online/broadband platforms.
