Google is still the 800lb gorilla on the Internet. In fact, it grew its far dominating marketshare in search in July faster than its competitors, according to new data released on Thursday. In the four weeks leading up to July 29, Google (www.google.com) increased its market share in search volume in the U. S. from 59.3% to 60.2%, Yahoo! Search (www.search.yahoo.com) has increased from 22.0% to 22.5% and MSN Search (www.search.msn.com) has decreased slightly from 12.1% to 11.8%. This information was compiled by Hitwise, an online measurement company, and it is based on data from 57 search engines used by U.S. internet users.
